Metric Bolt Kit

I find it handy to have a variety of metric stainless bolts around when assembling bicycles.  My kit is running a little light and some other friends wanted similar ones, so we put together a bulk order from McMaster Carr.  I thought I'd document the kit that we put together while I had the part numbers handy.

This spreadsheet shows a nice kit which can be split among 4 friends and costs about $30 each at today's pricing:

M6 washers 93475A250 100 3.4 2 200 50 $1.70
$29.22

There are a few changes from my old kit above.  I dropped the longer M5 bolts because I don't use them very often.  I added some M6 bolts in a length that I find useful for cantilever brakes and seatpost binders.  I also added some button head M5 bolts in the sizes that I use for direct mounting fenders.

This is brilliant. I wanted to do the exact same thing, but I hadn't come up with a proper list of hardware yet.  This should be a good start.

This is a great list, and at some point I'll have to break down and make an order. I'd like to get some more flange button head screws, I love those for direct-fender mounting, they make me feel better about not using a  washer.

Jimmy -- I over ordered slightly I think.  If I have an extra kit I'll drop you a line.  I thought about over-ordering a lot (knowing that you and a few others would also be interested), but didn't want to put too much on my CC.

I can't read the why! Why Alex why?

No m4? No m8? I find those m4's useful for random fender/reflector mounting and m8's for, uh, maybe just the seatpost binders on the kelly frames I have. Hmm, maybe thats why I don't ever go through them.

I just never use much M4 stuff, so I don't mind paying hardware store prices.

My blog cut off the Why, but you can read it in the RSS feed.  I don't know why it does that.
